Free public transport during Riga Festival on August 19 and 20

On August 19 and 20 Riga residents and guests will be able to use public transport (buses, trams, trolleybuses) free of charge, except minibuses, night transport and the Retro trams. The paid parking lots operated by "Rīgas satiksme" will be also available for free on August 19 and 20, except the underground parking at Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street 5a next to the House of  Congresses, where parking services will be charged for according to the current tariffs.

On August 18-20, due to the possible increase in passenger flow during Riga Festival, public transport traffic will be adjusted to places where festive events will be held. Additional runs and bigger vehicles will be provided on some routes.

On August 18, extra runs will be organized on tram route No. 10 from the Bišumuiža terminal until 2:00 a.m. Please see additional runs here.

On August 19 and 20, from 12:00 till 18:00, extra runs will be organized on tram route No. 11 due to festive events in Mežaparks. It is planned that the trams will run according to a temporary schedule with intervals of approximately 6 minutes.

On August 19 and 20, due to events to be held in the Lucavsala recreation area, bus No. 40 will stop at stop „Lucavsala” on the way to Ziepniekkalns.

On Saturday, August 19, public transport traffic on some routes will be organized until 2:00 from the city centre so as to cover as many districts of the city as possible and ensure transportation of passengers to and from the places where festive events will be held. Additional runs will be organized on:

  • bus routes No. 3, 11, 12/23/26 (runs across Akmens Bridge), 18, 24, 25, 37, 40, 50, 51 and 53;
  • tram routes No. 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11;
  • trolleybus routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27.

Should transport traffic be closed across Akmens Bridge on August 19, bus No. 22 will    go to stop „Central Railway Terminal”, then turn  about to go in the opposite direction along Gogoļa Street, Marijas Street (turns about to go in the opposite direction as bus No. 8 in the Railway Terminal Square), then go along Gogoļa Street, Lāčplēša Street, across Salu Bridge, along Mūkusalas Street, Akmeņu Street, Valguma Street, Uzvaras Boulevard and further by the route, The bus will not stop at „13th January Street”, „Grēcinieku Street”. It will not stop at stop „Central market” when going to the Airport either, but will stop at the stop of intercity coaches „National library” in Uzvaras Boulevard.

On Sunday, August 20, additional public transport runs will be organized until the end of the festive events on:

  • bus routes No. 37,40 and 53;
  • tram routes No. 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11;
  • trolleybus routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27.
